Life updates from Tom & Josh
With things cooled down in NZ and very hot up in Japan, we thought it was time for a quick update on our adventures for our off-seasons.
It was a tough season injury-wise for both of us and neither team had their best performance, so we were both looking forward to having a bit of a break from rugby to refresh both mentally and physically.
Tom took to the beaches of Bali for a month to take part in a Tantric Yoga course.
After completing the course to become a qualified yoga instructor, he took to the waves in Uluwatu and confirmed he's still a Kook. Tom's currently in Sydney, hanging out with his niece and nephew.
I ventured to HOi An in Vietnam for a couple weeks with my wife to enjoy some time on the beach before heading back home to NZ.
It has been a full year out of New Zealand, and it feels great to be home at the family farm for some peace and quiet (sometimes difficult to get in Tokyo), and catching up with family and friends. I’ve been indulging in some kiwi delicacies that I’ve been missing; top of the list a good steak & cheese pie.
Last thoughts
This past 12 months for both Tom and I have reinforced the importance of having a solid support network around you, and that when you set out to achieve challenging goals, having good people in your corner is the most important thing you need.
So for those of you that are setting out on a new challenge, whether it's starting a business, moving overseas or something else, make sure you have people to lean on when seas get rough.
