See ya 2022!
It’s been a while since we gave an update on how things have been going for us, and we thought with the summer months finally here we’d give you some insight into what’s been going on and what lies ahead.
So where to start?! Easy question - with you guys, of course. The amount of support we’ve received and continue to receive is astonishing. We are truly grateful and appreciative of how much you all get around our product, whether it’s recommending to a friend, sharing, commenting or tagging us on social media, or purchasing one of our tins. Without you, we’d just be a couple of pasty rugby players.
During the spring/Tanis season, Sauce and I were both based up north, playing footy and prepping for our first official summer as business owners. Our list of stockists has continued to grow, and Zinc or Swim can be found almost all over New Zealand! We will be posting a list of all our stockists in the New Year so that it’s easier for you all to find in-store.
Following the Northland season, I moved to Japan to play rugby and Sauce is back at the mighty Blues for what is sure to be a championship season. With the business growing, and me heading off, we needed another set of hands on deck and have brought a new member to the Zinc or Swim team! Heather Johnson has come on board as our new distribution manager and has already been busy packing all of the December orders for stockists and customers. Welcome, Heather!
Summer is upon us and with that, we have finally launched our natural sunscreen Sundaze. We’ve had this exciting new product in the pipeline for a while now - it’s a mineral zinc-based sunscreen that contains Mānuka Honey and Kawakawa. Natural sunscreen is a lot thicker than standard sunscreen, as chemicals aren’t used to achieve the desired SPF. We decided to take things slowly and just sell a limited quantity on our website for the summer, to see how sales go before stocking it in stores. We hope you enjoy this product as much as we do!
2022 was a crazy year for us both, and there were so many twists and turns we did not expect. We’re learning in business as soon as you think it's smooth sailing ahead, a wave will come and try its best to knock you off course. We had issues with labeling, consistency of product, and supply chain, and we were constantly on the move with rugby which limited our time to find solutions. But that’s the adventure of business and when a wave comes by, you just have to slap some zinc on and get on with it!
The year ahead will no doubt be just as challenging but we’re excited to keep growing our business baby, and taking you all with us! So with that, we wish you all a very happy holiday season. We hope you all get some quality whānau time in the sun (wearing SPF, of course!) or whatever a good break looks like for you.
